Action: Replace toxic household cleaners with eco-friendly versions
Things that might stop you from taking action:
- You like the smell of your normal cleaners
- You don’t believe that conventional cleaners can actually harm you,
- You don’t think that eco-cleaners will clean as well as conventional ones.
- There are so many different types of cleaners in your house! Where do you start??
Ways to overcome obstacles:
- Make your own cleaner to smell just like you want it too (some experimentation required)
- Check out easy non-toxic ways to clean your house
- Read a report on indoor home air quality showing the causes of poor indoor air quality - (specifically VOCs)
- Do a test – wash part of your home with conventional cleaners, and the other half with non-toxic version. Can you see, smell or feel the difference?
- Start by switching your All-Purpose cleaner for a home-made version, then move on from there.
Benefits:
- Making your own cleaner will save $$$.
- You and your family will have a lower chance of developing allergies, asthma, sinusitis or bronchitis
